If you enjoy a bit of gardening, are quite the green thumb, or simply enjoy a bit of cultivation, then you know that your home’s garden is your pride and joy. Here is a bit more information on the coverage for damage to gardens and plants under Suncorp Home Insurance.

What policy provides cover

What’s covered

When you have home cover, we’ll cover the cost to replace trees, shrubs, plants, hedges and garden beds at the insured address with ones we consider are reasonably similar to the ones lost or damaged as a result of the same insured event that caused loss or damage to your home.

Know that when we do replace the damaged item/s they may not be the same maturity as the trees, shrubs, hedges or garden beds that were damaged. For example, if you have a fully grown orange tree that has been damaged, we will pay the cost of replacing the orange tree, but it may not be a fully grown orange tree.

The most we will pay for any one incident for Classic Extras and Classic Advantages is outlined in the table. Unfortunately, we do not offer this for our Classic cover.

What’s not covered

We don’t cover loss or damage to lawns, grass or pot plants. We don’t cover loss or damage caused by these insured events:

• Storm;
• Storm surge;
• Flood; and
• Escape of liquid.
