Since becoming Queensland SES’s Principal Community Partner in 2020, Suncorp has supported community engagement and education campaigns, helped fund equipment for volunteers and promoted volunteerism across Queensland. Community engagement
At FarmFest 2026, Suncorp joined Queensland SES volunteers to connect with communities from across the state and share practical preparedness advice. Together, we spoke with farmers, families, business owners and school groups about resilience, severe weather preparedness and the simple steps that can help protect what matters most.
This face-to-face engagement helps build awareness, preparedness and confidence before severe weather events occur.
Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day)
Every year, Suncorp proudly celebrates Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day), a national day recognising the incredible contribution SES volunteers make across Australia.
Whether it’s storm, floods or emergencies that strike without warning, SES volunteers are there – steady, skilled and selfless. WOW Day is an opportunity to acknowledge their commitment, expertise and service, and to thank them for helping keep our communities safe.

Presented each year during SES Week, the award recognises volunteers whose commitment, leadership and community spirit inspire others and create lasting impact. SES Volunteer 1: These boots walked for miles so families in disaster areas could receive emergency repairs.
SES Volunteer 2: These boots have climbed many roofs to inspect storm damage.
SES Volunteer 3: These boots stood up to flood waters while helping people into floods boats.

Johnathan Thurston: These gloves may not look like much to you, but to others they mean a lot.
SES Volunteer 1: These gloves removed a helicopter's door to make it easier to hand over medication in a disaster zone.
SES Volunteer 2: These gloves have wrapped hundreds of roof tiles in plastic to limit water damage after severe hailstorms.
SES Volunteer 3: These gloves knocked on hundreds of doors conducting post-storm welfare checks.

Preparing for severe weather starts with having the right information. Through our partnerships with Queensland SES and Get Ready Queensland, we've helped develop practical resources designed to support individuals and families before, during and after severe weather events.
These guides provide simple advice, checklists and activities to help households understand risks, prepare emergency kits, create plans and stay safe when storms strike.
- Stay Safe Activity Book - A fun and engaging resource for children and families, packed with activities, puzzles and preparedness tips that encourage important conversations about getting ready for severe weather. It also includes helpful checklists covering what to do before, during and after different weather events.
- Get Your Kit Together Guide - A practical guide to building an emergency kit, helping households identify the essential items they'll need to be better prepared when severe weather or natural disasters occur.
