Affordable

You shouldn’t have to pay for heath services you don’t need. Basic Hospital Plus is designed to cover you for the essentials at an affordable price.

You’ll also receive a rebate from the government on your insurance premium as long as you’re earning less than $151,000 per year.

Plus, if you’re between 18 and 29, you could save up to 10% on Hospital Cover until you’re 41.

With hospital cover like Basic Hospital Plus or Bronze Hospital Plus, you can rest easy knowing you’re covered for things like dental surgery and accidental injuries. **

Health Insurance to keep you healthy

Suncorp Health Insurance doesn’t just cover you when you’re sick. You could get money back on your dentist appointments, optometrist visits and more. Plus if you take out Mid or Top Extras you could also claim money back on your gym membership or personal training sessions^.

Lifetime Health Cover

Lifetime Health Cover (LHC) loading is a government charge which adds 2% on to the price you pay for Hospital Cover if you sign up after 30 June following your 31st birthday. The loading increases by 2% for every year you don’t join, up to a maximum of 70% and can only be removed after 10 years of continuous Hospital Cover.

For example, if you sign up at the age of 40 you’ll pay an extra 20% for your Hospital Cover compared to someone who joined aged 31.

Skip paying a levy

Avoid being hit with Lifetime Health Cover loading by taking out hospital cover before July 1 following your 31st birthday.

Medicare Levy Surcharge

The Medicare Levy Surcharge (MLS) is a government tax on top of the normal Medicare Levy and impacts singles with a taxable income of over $93,000 or families (including couples and single-parents) with a taxable income of over $186,000 who don’t have an appropriate level of private hospital insurance for the full financial year.

Holding any Suncorp Health Insurance Hospital Cover product means you won’t pay the MLS if your income is above the government threshold and you maintain your hospital cover for the full financial year.
